That You May Believe: The Gospel of John
We're planning to spend some extended time with John as a church - his gospel, his letters, and Revelation. But we're starting with his gospel!
John himself gives the reason that he wrote the gospel in John 20:31 - 'that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name'.
We're spending time in John because it points to who Jesus is and because it leads us to encounter him and his glory again and again. It speaks to the big questions we all ask, whether we're followers of Jesus or not - meaning, life, love, and so on. It gives us practical guidance for living as disciples in the Spirit. And it's a gospel of abundance - time and time again, we're pointed to the God of abundance who offers us abundant life.
