We believe God has called Gateway to be a unique kind of family that encourages and releases one another in life and faith. We love to celebrate on Sundays, but we know that family life best happens in a home with a smaller group of people. A group is a great place to make friends, grow in faith, encourage and pray for one another.
WHAT ARE GROUPS ALL ABOUT?
We want to be a church that is increasingly known for how we love one another.
We believe that discipleship happens most effectively in community and therefore want to encourage everyone who calls Gateway their home to belong to a group. Groups are a great place to make new friendships and to build the relationships that are essential to help each one of us to grow as followers of Jesus.
Simply take some time to look through the groups listed in the Term Guide, find a group that you like the look of, and sign up.
START BY SELECTING A GROUP
We have two different types of groups running this term.
Gateway Community groups are the hub of community life at Gateway. They are the central point of our group structure, and we want as many people as possible to attend one of these! Many of our groups use the Sunday preaching as a framework, allowing more opportunity to discuss what God is speaking to us about.
Connect groups aim to form community and are for everyone and anyone whether Gateway is your home church or not! They are based mainly on a shared interest – maybe an activity or hobby (e.g. sport, art), or a passion (e.g. working with the homeless). The aim is to create space and opportunities to build relationships with people in Gateway and those in the wider community.
WHEN DO THE GROUPS START?
For the most part, groups will start on the week commencing Monday 30 April. However, some groups will start at different points.
Once you’ve let us know which group you want to attend, the group leader will contact you to confirm the date, time and location.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Fill out the Sign-Up Form at the back of the Term Guide and hand in at a Connect Point (at either site) by Sunday 29 April.
If you can’t hand the form in on a Sunday, you can also email your choice of group to firstname.lastname@example.org
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SIGN UP?
The group leader will contact you to confirm the details of start date, when and where the group will meet and welcome you into the group.
CAN I JOIN A GROUP AFTER IT'S STARTED?
If you wish to join a group during the term, please email email@example.com
CAN I GO TO MORE THAN ONE GROUP?
Our desire is that those who sign up to a group make it a priority to attend. If you have the time, you are welcome to join more than one group. However, it would be much better to attend one group regularly than two groups inconsistently.
WHY DO GROUPS FOLLOW A TERMLY PATTERN?
We have been following this pattern for the last few years, and have found that by adopting a termly pattern more people are connecting into community life at Gateway. We’ve also found that group leaders are refreshed through having a break between terms and people new to Gateway find it easier to get connected!
WHY DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP EACH TERM?
By involving the whole church in signing up for a group each term, it enables those new to Gateway to get connected into community life more quickly.
CAN I GO TO THE SAME GROUP EACH TERM?
Yes! If the group is still running, you can continue to attend the same group.
Even if you plan to attend the same group as last term, please still complete the Sign-Up Form in the Term Guide or email firstname.lastname@example.org
