FP IMPACT:
A training year serving Gateway
What is Impact?
Impact offers an all round training package that equips people to think, act and live biblically, providing a unique mixture of theological teaching, skills training, church-based project work and personal discipleship.
Christians need to be well equipped to serve God effectively and build His church. Long running and ever popular, Impact is an essential starting point for those who want to devote time to serve God in this way to discover their gifts, grow in character and be trained theologically.
How?
Alongside serving at Gateway you will receive theological teaching and study, combined with skills training. Spread across the academic year, this element provides a systematic theological framework, covering all major doctrines. You will cover a range of topics; and be taught vision and values in an informal and interactive style, with time for questions and discussion.
You will also receive personal mentoring, group discipleship, training and support throughout the year. You will also have the opportunity to attend local and national conferences throughout the year, along with the chance of an overseas mission trip.
What will you get out of it?
The overall objective of the course is that you will develop in three main areas.
1. Knowledge
The theological training serves all academic backgrounds and will equip students to understand the Bible and help students to think biblically.
Subjects covered include:
- Major doctrines
- Old and New Testament overview
- Setting People Free course
- The Kingdom of God
- Grace and Law
2. Character
You will be mentored in Christian character, helped to grow in Christian disciplines and encouraged in your relationship with God, your fellowship with others and taught how to witness to the world.
3. Skills
You will serve and work in Gateway, with a specific project. Each project will have a focused area and leader. You will also get opportunities to serve and develop your gifting in other areas of church life, including:
- Building great Sundays
- Creative arts
- Town projects
- Working with the poor
- Youth and kids
Other Information:
We only take people for a full year programme (11months: September to August). This is an adult position with adult responsibilities. We are therefore happy to take those who have just turned 18 years, but ideally require that they have life experience of having lived away from home prior to joining the Project.
What next?
If you are interested in doing Impact starting in September 2012, please get in contact with us via the form on the right hand side of this page. Or download and fill in the application form and either email it to the church office (subject ‘Impact Application’,) or send it to Gateway Church Swindon, see address below.
We will then organise an initial interview to discuss your hopes for the year and suitability for your proposed specialised field. You will then be asked to submit an Elder’s reference (obtained after interview) and will receive a letter confirming your position.
